JIMI AGBAJE WINS PDP GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARIES

Mr Jimi Agbaje has won the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State defeating a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro.    The result was announced at about 11:20pm local time on Monday.
While counting was going on, there was an uproar, as some persons tried to grab the ballot box
It is one of the last results that were released in the governorship primary elections held across Nigeria. His victory came after there were reported discrepancies between the number of delegates and the number of ballots counted. Jimmy Agbaje scored 432 votes against Mr. Obanikoro's 343 votes from delegates across the state.
Musiliu Obanikoro, who lost at Lagos PDP gubernatorial primaries, has described the election as a “complete sham.”
The former Minister of State said that the “electoral fraud” was condemnable and he would fight the result of the polls.
Trouble started at the venue of the primaries after Seidu Kumo, a former Senator and chairman of the electoral committee, announced 863 as the total votes cast.
Before delegates began voting, the committee had announced 806 as the number of accredited delegates.
“I still can’t comprehend how accredited delegates of 806 rose to 867,” Mr. Obanikoro told journalists inside his campaign office in Lagos, midnight Tuesday.
Well....trouble everywhere. If the primaries at the various parties are filled with discrepancies and aggrieved aspirant and the party can not conduct a truly fair election, what then do you expect from the real election itself?
