The Ooni of Ife is dead!!!

The Ooni of Ife, Alayeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade is dead. He died yesterday in London at the age of 85. Oba Sijuwade was the fifth Ooni of Ife. He climbed unto the throne on December 6, 1980. As the Ooni of Ife, he presided over the Ife territory, in the South West Nigeria but his influence went far and beyond.
 He came into office at the height of the supremacy fight amongst Yoruba Obas. The crisis pitched him against the Alaafin of Oyo. It festered on until Osun state was carved out of the old Oyo State.
 Before he became an Oba, he studied at Abeokuta Grammar School and later at Northampton College in the United Kingdom before he became a manager at Leventis stores.
 Oba Sijuwade’s term as Oba was characterised with political, as he was one of the traditional rulers that meddled in politics. 
He survived by several wives and children.

Big Brother Africa 2015 edition cancelled!!

The acclaimed Africa’s biggest reality TV show, Big Brother Africa (BBA) has been cancelled. Organizers of the reality TV show said their decision to cancel this year’s show was due to lack of sponsorship. The organizers , Africa magic and Endemol were unable to get sponsorship for this year's edition of the controversial show.
Well, to all BBA lovers....no show this year....does that man the death of the show? Is it losing its popularity? Is the moral critics of the show finally getting their way??? Share your thoughts!!!

Chemical explosion kills 8, injures 101 in Jos, Nigeria.

The Plateau state government on Saturday said eight people died and 101 others injured in the gas explosion at the Plateau State Water Board early Saturday. A statement by Emmanuel Nanle, the director of press and public affairs to Governor Simon Lalong confirmed the incident, but said it has been controlled.
“One hundred and one (101) people are receiving treatment at OLA Hospital, Evangel Hospital (Jankwano), Plateau Specialist Hospital and Airforce Hospital, some of which have been discharged,” the statement said. “Eight (8) people have been confirmed dead as a result of the inhalation of the contaminated air.”
Mr. Nanle added that “there was an excess Chlorine inhalation from an exploded Chlorine Cylinder by residents around the Lamingo Water Board Treatment Plant.
“The contamination has been contained and does not affect the water  supplied to Public Mains. Water from the public mains is safe for consumption and is not affected in anyway.”

Whitney Houston's daughter: Bobbi Kristina Brown dies at 22 !

 It is with very sad feelings that I have to write this post. I was hopeful that she will make it out of Coma, out of the hospice but the lord knows better. Bobbi Kristina Brown has died aged 22 on Sunday July 26 2015 - six months after she was found unconscious in a bathtub. The daughter of the late superstar Whitney Houston and Booby brown was rushed to hospital and placed in a medically-induced coma on January 31 after she was discovered face-down in the water-filled tub at her townhouse in Roswell, Georgia. She was treated in a hospital and then a hospice facility in the nearly six months since she was found unresponsive and not breathing in the bathtub at her Roswell home on January 31 -- nearly three years to the day after her mother accidentally drowned in a bathtub in Beverly Hills, a victim of the vices she had fought for much of her career.

May her soul rest in peace!!! Amen.

Fake doctor Oluwadamilola Opemuyi, from Maidstone, jailed after treating patients in Sheppey prisons

The woman whose picture is shown  posed as a doctor despite having no medical training and treated 91 patients before she was rumbled, a court heard. Oluwadamilola Opemuyi duped agencies into finding her positions after she assumed the identity of a fully qualified doctor and provided false documents. The “delusional” 39-year-old fraudster - whose father is a gynaecologist and mother is a paediatrician - was able to obtain a position at Elmley and Swaleside prisons in Sheppey, as well as one in Essex and two in Liverpool.
Now Opemuyi, of Bridgeside Mews, Maidstone, is behind bars herself after being jailed for two years and four months for four offences of fraud, two of possessing false identity documents and three of forgery.She was caught out when she presented two prescriptions she had forged at Boots chemist in Maidstone town centre.
When arrested, she declared: “I am a doctor and I wrote them myself.”
The judge at the trial said despite Opemuyi’s mental health difficulties he was not being invited to make a hospital order and he must, therefore, follow sentencing guidelines.
“You were intense in your determination to get to where you eventually arrived,” he said. “This is not a case where your principal aim was financial gain.
“You made references to requiring unrealistic remuneration for your services but this was all part of the fantasy you were spinning for yourself as a physician.
“There are aspects which are rightly characterised as bizarre. There is mitigation in one respect only, namely your mental health.”
Judge Carey said Opemuyi’s psychotic condition was an important consideration in passing sentence.
Opemuyi will serve half the sentence in prison before being released on licence. She has spent six months in custody - the equivalent of a 12-month sentence.
Woah! This is really bad...imagine being treated and diagnosed by a fake doctor? What if it has resulted to death? Good thing she was caught but it wasn't fast enough.
